Every year the City’s rowing community in Cambridge comes together over 4 evenings in July for the traditional and very exciting bumping races, also know as the Town Bumps, on the river Cam. The races are organised by the Cambridgeshire Rowing Association.
Deyton Bell, the business development specialists based in Cambridge, UK, are delighted to announce that they will once again be organising The First Post Enclosure at the Cambridge Town Bumps in 2009. This key hospitality initiative, conceived and launched by Deyton Bell in 2007, will once again take place during the Bumps in July 2009, and provides a wonderful opportunity for local companies to come together and watch some very exciting racing while entertaining guests in magnificent settings.
The First Post enclosure in Fen Ditton, offers a prime position fronting the River Cam. Groups attending over the past two years have included various local businesses, as well as regional charities. The event has proved a great success and we are now already planning for 2009. In the past we’ve helped groups including Teenage Cancer Trust, EACH and Macmillan Cancer Care and this year we plan to help other groups.
The Town Bumps runs this year from Tuesday 21st July – Friday 24th July. Imagine the setting… a warm and sunny July evening, a private reserved area on the grassy banks of the Cam, views looking down towards the start of the races from the first bend providing the best vantage point possible – what a wonderful way to enjoy the spectacle with customers, colleagues, suppliers, friends and family.
Deyton Bell have up to 5 marquee areas available for private hire, either on a per night basis or for the duration of the bumping races. Deyton Bell will have their own marquee within the enclosure and are currently taking reservations from various interested groups in the local area who want their own private marquee area. It will only be possible to have a few organisations participating and the private areas will be reserved on a first come first served basis, with some dates already booked.
Private areas include a 30ft X 20ft marquee and tables and chairs for 40 people within it. We plan to have a caterer on site all week providing a barbeque and beer tent offering a variety of drinks and hot food at reasonable prices. Arrangements can also be made directly with caterers for drinks and food served directly to the marquee. It is also possible to make private catering arrangements. Within the marquee area it is possible to erect stands, flags, signage etc to make the area more personal or to improve the visibility of the brand. There will also be toilet facilities on site, along with marshal co-ordinated parking in reserved areas.
The boats are on the water between about 5 and 9pm and there are usually about 80 racing eights competing flat out to ensure their crews bump the boat in front. It’s a tremendously exciting series of races – a great way to spend an evening – and the First Post Enclosure is the best place to watch!
So why not join in and use this exciting opportunity as part of your planned corporate hospitality entertainment!
Local Organisations interested in becoming involved should contact Jessica Heavey on 01223 873033 or via e-mail to discuss the various options available.
